MEET THE TEAM

Jason Russell-Hodge - Qualified Builder, Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP)

Jason is a qualified builder and Licensed Building Practitioner with 20 years in the industry.

Jasons building journey started in 2005 when he joined the then Structures Team with the Department of Conservation in Te Anau, maintaining both structures and huts throughout Fiordland National Park.  Following a restructure, Jason joined a Residential building team in Te Anau doing new builds and steel frame housing before moving to Dunedin in 2011.

He struck out on his own in 2015 as Jason Russell-Hodge Builder where he built a firm reputation for quality craftsmanship and innovative and creative solutions for any budget.

Jason isn’t just all about Residential and light commercial building however. Coming from a rural background, Jason expanded the business out into the rural sector where his understanding of what works and what doesn’t in a farming environment has seen him as a firm choice for a number of dry stock and dairy farms around the Otago region.

Jasons main focus is delivering what the customer wants, within their budget without compromising craftsmanship. Aside from his building work, Jason has strong skills in project and staff management and communication skills.

When he is not building clients dreams, Jason can be found spending time with his wife and their 4 working border collies, adventuring in remote corners of Otago, hunting, enjoying the tranquility of fly fishing or metal detecting, piecing together Otago history one coin, spoon or bottle top at a time.

Daniel Batt - Qualified Builder

Dan came to us from Beaumont Station several years ago where he was at the time working as a general hand doing tractor work, fencing, stock work and everything ag in between.

Tasked with assisting Jason and the team with a building job on the Station, Dan found a passion for building work and signed on as Jason’s apprentice not long after.

Dan really found his niche in building work. His hard work, attention to detail and determination saw him expedite his apprenticeship, qualifying with top marks.

Dan experienced a broader scope of work than most apprentices - residential, light commercial and rural which gives him a well rounded understanding of most building works.

During the 2024 Dunedin floods, Dan impressively stepped up to manage a team of hammer hands where he showed his ability to perform under immense pressure and became a firm favorite with both clients and staff.

He is currently working towards his LBP and further developing his skill in managing a team.

When he isn’t on the building site, Dan is an outdoorsman like Jason and can be found spending time with his partner Alannah and their young family 4 wheel driving, hunting, fishing and camping.

Darius Bremner - Dazzle - Hammerhand

Darius joined the team during the 2024 Dunedin floods quickly proving to be a reliable and dependable worker. He is currently learning the trade with a view to taking on an apprenticeship in the near future.

Jacob King - Kingi - Hammerhand

Jacob also joined the team during the 2024 Dunedin floods and is diligently learning the trade with a view to taking on an apprenticeship in the near future.

Jacob brings specific roofing experience to the team so if your roof is causing issues, Jacob will most likely be found up the ladder!

Victoria Russell-Hodge - Office Manager

Victoria takes care of the admin, accounts, H&S, website and marketing.

Her professional background includes office/programme management, H&S, scheduling, data analysis and CRM migration and rollout so not much gets past her and she keeps us all on the straight and narrow.

When not shuffling paper, Victoria can be found out and about with her husband Jason, or out training and working sheep with her 4 home bred working border collies.
